Demand Change for Jo Jorgensen!
Transcript of Speech from Kasie Dailey, Founder of the #LetHerSpeak Movement:
“I’ve been a Libertarian since Ron Paul, but I didn’t know about all the laws that were blocking third parties from ballot access until Gary Johnson ran in the last election. Americans saw his name on ballots in all 50 states, but were not able to compare him against the two “lesser evils” that year, because they didn’t have enough information to make an informed decision. As a result, 40% of the voting public did not vote in the last election, because they only heard two corrupt voices in the debates. Americans deserve to compare the candidates listed on their ballots in the debates. To be more specific: if a candidate is able to get on all 50 state ballots, we demand they should have automatic access to speak in the debates.
This year, the amazing Dr. Jo Jorgensen won the Libertarian nomination. She is the most qualified person running in this election, and as a bonus, she is female. The first female president AND the first libertarian president are all my dreams coming true. But more important than that, we NEED a third party to break the hold that the two party system has over our lives.
We can already see the Republicrats using their same old playbook: The media blackouts. The polls that do not ask about third party options and refuse to accept third party answers. The attempts to turn our candidates into a joke. But we are not going to play their games the way they expect us to play them anymore. We have to attract the non-voters, but generally they avoid politics, especially politics online, because they can’t stand the finger pointing narratives and they refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils. Those people are our people, they just don’t know it yet.
We need to get back into our communities by interacting in positive ways with messages they will care about. We need events that are large enough to get noticed on a national level, and small enough to directly impact our neighbors by addressing their concerns. Libertarians have representatives in most of the counties throughout America, and we have hundreds of down-ballot candidates that need to get noticed. Potentially thousands of capable people who can help, if they choose to…
#LetHerSpeak was born with all these things in mind. The goal from the beginning was to create an “event-in-a-box” with strategy, instructions, and marketing materials so that any volunteer could host an event in their area. [The marketing campaign] launched on July 11th and true patriots fueled by passion and positivity took it and ran all over the country. They built their own events, created their own routes, set up their own rallys. They created flyers and posters to reach out to the locals in their area, they went online to local groups, they sent press releases and spoke to their local media. Members of the Libertarian party and Jo Jorgensen’s campaign all participated by either hosting events or promoting via email, social, and texts. The various grassroots groups all pushed the event with daily calls to actions, meme contests, and more.
Even Jo and Spike were tweeting about it!
On Saturday August 8, 2020, we dropped a gold bomb in 50 states and 153 counties. We decorated our cars parade-style to turn our vehicles into driving billboards. We went live to tell our networks why third parties with ballot access deserve to debate. We drove around our towns drawing attention to the folks passing by, being received by waves and smiles and laughter. The hashtag #LetHerSpeak hit the top spot for twitter trends around the globe that day. More people now know about voter suppression and the rigged debates either online or in-person…”
